So for £35 you get 2xmain bolt and washer...and 6x smaller nut and washer?

they look very nice...a part that always looks manky on most engine bays

No, you get two replacement bolts with built in washers... Sounds dear but they take quite a bit of machining.

So ignore me martin...

Why risk some thing like pulley bolts....

Are the stainless bolts tested at 8000rpm for hours on end.....i doubt it...

Total waste of money.

Agree with Dingy

Wouldn't change mine either

Even the lowest grade Tensile Bolts are 8.8 and those Stainless ones won't even be Close to that.

Trouble with Stainless is it will stress Crack after time !

O.k to use it in Non Stress Applications.

Only time will Tell ???

Stupid Q but is there a high load on them anyway to matter?
The gears aren't a tapered fit to matter or is that wrong?

Pulleys are not tapered fit, they locate on the camshaft by a woodruff key.
The M6 cap heads fitted to the Piper verniers are also stainless, I would be more worried about those but they don't give problems.

i dont mean to come across as being funny

but does anyone else think they are bloody expensive? 35+VAT
i dont wanna seem like im slating the product or martin etc
but there must be a closer bolt that is "stock/off the shelf"
rather than making them

im looking at stainless bolts for my off roader wheel on the beadlock rims
and for a M12 cap head bolt 1 inch long
they are 75 pence each per 100
they are 93 pence each per 10

Cheers

As Martin has said,

these are hand machined, so price against off the shelf bolts cant be cross referenced.
But St/St bolts at m12x30mm will be about A2 = £25, A4 £40 for a box of 100, and thats at a very good trade discount, as my firm deals alot with them.

St/st bolts are
A2= 6.6 tensil strength
A4= 7.6 tensil strength

Std cam bolts are 8.8 tensil strength off the top of my head.

And due to the load and torque used on cam pulley bolts, st/st will be fine for the job.

I reckon about 40% margin for you......Or Ten Notes per set (in my speak)........ If its less then your paying too much!!!!!

Just dont think they justify the price. Compare them to the cost of the verniers that they are holding on and the work involved in making them.

Great looking product though!

Mart, the clueless cunts on here have never actually run a business, just ignore them and cary on totting up the orders from those who know a nice little product when they see one.

I'll bet the concientious objector to your margin never goes into a high street clothes shop and refuses to buy clothes that have over 100% markup

Verniers are one piece are they not, a pack of hand machined bolts is several pieces. Also think of the size of the batches they'll be produced in.

Back to business school

Who gives a fuck, I'll pay it as will some many others...........

And safety doesnt bother me in the slightest, its Martins engine and I'm sure he's not going to risk a BUILD for 10.00 of profit!

Either you want them or you dont, simple really!

How can people moan at the price???

these people happily pay the likes of bailey £135 for a turbo damper that doesn't even work and probably costs less than £50 to make?

the price is the price, if you don't like it...don't buy them!

Mate, if you think verniers are "one piece" and these bolts are "hand machined" then there is only one of us that needs to go back to school.

I wont argue with the rest of you business experts on here as Im obviously out of my depth!...............

I'm sure if some one would like to order 10,000 martin's production costs would come right down and so would his price.
£35+vat seems a very fair price to me if you don't like it make your own or just don't buy them
