they have a hydraulic clutch so shouldnt be stiff.
good cars, but the diesels are better.
Parkes reckon around 33mpg.
the 2.1 diesel does 39mpg and is 0.2 seconds slower to sixty lol.

Ex colleague of mine had one as a company car and reliabilty issues aside (that's hard ) it wasn't a bad car to drive and quite nippy (for a barge)
For what they cost I certainly wouldn't compain about owning one

I can honestly say they are not a bad old bus. I had a 98S 1.9 TD LX estate, with 150k on it, and yes the clutch pedal was stiff. i replaced the cable which cured it for about a week, then it went the same as before. The cable runs allong the bulkhead, right where the exhaust manifold is (assuming the petrols the same) and the heat just dries the lube in the cable out. Just learn to live with it, i did.
All i spent on mine in 18months and 20k miles was a back box for the mot, and a battery (maybee £70 in total)
They handle pretty well as well for an old bus. Plus they are really comfy - ideal when your an old fart like me LOL
They are prone for leaking water through the pollen filter housing - under the pasanger side scuttle trim, just make sure all the shit / leaves etc are cleaned out from underneath.
