Zetec on Bike Carbs
Anyone done this on here? Been informed of a company called Bogg Brothers which can supply me with all the bits i need? Anyone delt with them? If so are they a good company? Would this be a better setup than Twin 45's? Will be going on an 1800 Zetec in my MK2 XR2

depends on the spec of the rest of the engine...
on a standard zetec, 45 would be fine for carbs, so i would expect TBs to be a little smaller then that.
iirc, 45mm tbs are equivalent to 48/50 carbs.

I ve seen some R1 throttle bodies local to me , think they are only 38mm though. Will i need bigger then? What is the advantages/disadvantage of running bigger or smaller?
Im going to enclose them as space is a premium in a fiesta and without a scoop i dont think they will get adequate flow to them. Plus i would like to retain my BMC carbon filter thats fed from the fog light.

The pic of the bike carbs above is using the conversion plate i designed to be able to fit any type of carb, throttles, etc.. to a Zetec Head.
The conversion using bike carbs has been done many time before. If you look at my site their are a few members running them

IIRC you can use an st170 inlet manifold and a particular type of suzuki carbs will slide straight on with rubber coupling pipes (the carbs have the same centres as the inlet manifold)

I've done a couple of bike carb conversions so far.
Bear in mind that a CV bike carb that has a bore of 38 mm will be 38mm at is narrowest point.
A set of 45s will typically have 36 or 38 mm chokes in so will actually only be 36 / 38 mm at its narrowest point.
Bike CVs drive really well compared to 45s. They are easier to set up and there is much less bogging when you put your foot down due to the CV design.

How much might it cost to get you to do a set on a certain car I'm interested in?

What about fueling on bike carbs?, As fueling for 600 / 1000cc is a big jump to say 2000cc.
I currently have a set of 600cc bike carbs and some dellorto DHLM 40's and i don't know what to choose , These are to go on a 2l zetec

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
you wont get alot more power from a zetec swop than from putting bike carbs on your cvh, mines made 148 bhp atfw on standard internals, boggys does a top job by the way, worth waiting for

Boggy"s is just up the road from me
Great family
Dave bogg has been tuning cars longer than i have been on this planet , and is still doing the business today ,
People travel from all over the country to get the Boggs to tune / build / there cars
I was up at there workshops the other week and Dave showed me loads of cars they had in that had the bike carb conversion done . and even showed me one on the rollers and i was just amazed how responsive the car was ( ford anglia with a zetec engine on bike carbs )
You cant go wrong with the Boggs
Dave ( father )
Steve ( son )
Peter (son )
A propper family business
RIP, Andy ,,,,,,,,,,, Steve and Pete"s brother

If you are fitting bike carbs to a ZETEC you are going to need engine management so you might as well fit bike TBs. Sure the ECU will cost a bit more but you will make it back with fuel saving. The extra response and bhp will put a smile on your face too.
