I've used a facet red top feeding into a stock yb pump without any problems.

Also we sometimes use the holley billet 150 pump for serious cars so it can keep up with the big Aeromotive pumps.

the lift pump wants to be low pressure high volume ideally.

the lift pump is just to get fuel from the tank to the external swirlpot, then from there ive got a cossie pump to provide high pressure to the fuel rail.

97gph sounds alot, am i really going to need that much fuel for the power im gonna be running?! bearing in mind ill only be running 300bhp for 10seconds at a time roughly so the pump doesnt need to supply asnough fuel 300bhp constantly, as there will be a litre or so in the swirlpot anyway....

i know its not as simple as x=y but what sort of ratio of flow-bhp is required to be safe?

I realise that, but see no reason why you NEED a low pressure pump, especially when an HP pump is cheaper in this case

If you use a LP pump then you need to ensure you have return from the fuel rail to the swirl pot to provide the additonal fuel, but with an HP pump you could return it straight to the tank.

A correctly designed swirl pot fill the pot and returns the overspill to the tank, so it doesn't matter about having too much..........

because theres no pressure in the swirlpot a high pressure pump wouldnt be working against any 'resistance' and just overspin, imagine it trying to pressurise a bucket....thats not an issue with the low pressure solid state pumps as they just deliver a constant flow of fuel at Xpsi.

thats the way i understand it anyway, someone correct me if im wrong.

hmmm, my understanding is there IS pressure in the swirl pot or you would never get the fuel to return to the tank.........

perhaps someone who knows for sure can clear it up, but i agree there may be a small amount of pressure in the swirlpot for the reason you say...but itd only need like 0.5psi to be ample for getting fuel back to the tank.... definatly not pressurised enough for a highpressure pump to NOT overspin though
