Just wondering as ive got a Moondust Fiesta but the bay has been painted matt white. Ive also seen a few other Moondust Fiestas but some have been painted with metallic paint in the bay.

I want to find out how they came standard - im thinking Ford didn't use metalic paint in the bay to keep temps down?

Don't worry mate, other manufacturer's do it aswell, old Renault Clio's quite often have a dark grey engine bay regardless of their colour iirc!

ive seen saxos with grey primer bays

and zetec s fiesta all have black or dark grey bays iirc

Its common thing, many colours of Skyline GTR come with black enginebays, im sure there tons of cars like that.

my friend's old citroen c2's bonnet was red on the outside, then about 6inches of red round the edge of the underside, then the rest of the underside of the bonnet was still primer

Most new fords come in primer grey in the engine bay aswell as most of the underside with just the outer six inches covered in stone chip. Its piss poor really
