Hi,

Keeping the temperature artificially low will not give you any benefits really mate. The stock set up, if working correctly, will keep your engine within safe operating temps. I'd look to replace the thermostat and/or fan switch if it's overheating. Also recommend you check that the radiator hasn't rusted away, especially at the bottom.

If you still want to go ahead then you'll need a relay - a relay is just a beefy switch that is activated by a smaller switch (ie the one you want inside your car).

Google how to wire spotlights with a relay and you'll see how it works - just replace 'spots' with your fan of course!

Good luck with it.

I did this with the Sri. As said above. Run wires from the fan to a relay then to a switch mounted inside. Get a good high rated switch as they can get hot when on a while, we don't want any fire issues.

I would put bonnet lifters on to try let the heat escape as much as possible

Make sure you connect any manually switched circuit in parallel to the existing fan thermo switch,as this will ensure the fan still switches on at the pre set coolant temp ( just in case you forget to manually switch it on ).

But I have to agree with Stevo123,s earlier post that if the cooling system is properly serviced there should be no need to manually switch in normal operating conditions.
