If they told you that they having you on mate takes 20 mins to get dash out, remove steering colum, two muti plugs from top of fuse box and speedo cable from gearbox everything comes out still bolted to dash.... simples

one of three things
1. heaters control valve is stuck. this doesn't allow it to switch over to 'heat'.
2. there is blockage in the heaters core, not enabling fluid circulation thru it, thus not supplying warm to the cab
3. the temperature is stuck open. thus the coolant is constantly flowing and does not have a time to heat up the way it should for heaters use

i would check the control device first. wish this helps ya

Where do you say this heater valve is, as I did not think there was anything like that on the mk5, just a flap to change the flow of the air through the heater matrix, My heater at the moment is playing up cold also. help would be great as I have cleand out the matrix and it is clear cheers, Pete

Yes, when I move the control I get the luke warm air then in the cold possition I get dead cold air, so the controls are working. I have never came across anything like it. The two pipes going into the matrix are hot but when I turn on fan the heat is slightly hot for a short time then luke warm again as if there is not a constant or fast enought suply, Thermastate is deffinatly ok..
Weather getting colder I had to wear gloves last Friday,
Cheers, Pete

It dose seem like there is not any flow, I will have to check it. I will take the out pipe off the matrix and run the engine and see if I am getting any feed out if not I am due to do the timing belts oil and so on soon, so could change the pump at the same time if need be.
I brought the van on ebay, it went streight through the mot, i then turned it into small stealth camper can be seen on my youtube site, >pepersorte< I have this last five months in our sumer done 11,000 miles, not had a thing go wrong never touched to water at all till this week, so I cannot moan. Getting 61 to the gallon on a ru. I will let you know the outcome. Cheers, Pete
