zetec wont run

Default zetec wont run

hi there ive just fitted a 2.0 zetec in my mk 4 xr3i after a lot of hassle it finally starts. but after its reved a few times cuts out. this has only been happenin since i fitted the alternator. also if i connect the wire for the battery light it wont start at all.
Any ideas????

Check the battey to see what your getting off that when its charging.

Its charging fine has had new alternator and battery not long ago
pretty sure its going to have something to do with wiring, but all wires are on and in the right place

you earth'd it too the gearbox properly?

fink so have earth from battery to body then earth from gearbox and engine to body. then alternator and starter should earth through them right?

Wink zetec 2,0 to esco mk4

Hi! Sorry a late reply. What ECU do you use this wire series?
Do you own the original fuel relay with cables?
I have my own similar project start-up yet but perhaps I start later this spring.

using the zetec ecu and wiring loom just had to cut and join a few wires.
and yes using the original fuel pump relay.

you should have an earth from gearbox directly to battery mate, maybe the problem?

Yeah as wedge07 said. Quick fix to check will be to use a jump lead from your engine lifting eye to the battery negative terminal.
