Default CAT & MOT

I have a Sep 1992 Saphire 4x4, green top with CAT.

If I replace the exhaust with the mongoose turbo back system which removes the CAT will it still pass the MOT emissions test?

Cheers
Leigh

Hi,
as your car is registered after August 1992 technically it should be fitted with a cat to conform to MOT standards. However it really all depends on your tester.
If you present the car for test and tell him it was registered before August 92 and there is no cat fitted then he would have to give you the benefit of the doubt.

CheeRS, Mike.

At the end of the day I'd bet that 90% of MoT stations wouldn't fail it for that, like they care??

thanks guys,

best solution then is to keep the old exhaust tucked away just in case it fails the mot and change as required ?

Default Cat

I thought the Cat regulations started from Jan 1 1993?
