Default YB Dipstick Stuck

Morning all,

I went to dip the oil yesterday evening only to find that the dipstick is stuck in the tube.

My initial thoughts is that its after bending around the crank.

Has this happened to anybody before and how would you prevent it from happening again (presuming I can get it out without it snapping)

Cheers

Al

I would try some 3 in 1 around the outer tube where it goes in to the block and see if it will pull out. If you think it has been trapped on the crank then you are going to need to pull the sump off to check it.

Good luck, I hope it does not get expensive

Is it possible to rotate it and unstick it that way?

I'll try rotating it this evening and let you know how I get on...

If that fails, I'll pull the outer tube with it.

Thanks lads

At the risk of appearing thick, surely the feed tube would be designed to keep the dipstick well clear of the crank?

Well lads, I managed to get the dipstick and tube out last night without the dipstick breaking.

On inspection, I noticed that the dipstick tube has a slight kink in it just as it is pushed into the block. The kink was pointing towards the crank so by rotating the tube 180 degrees it should solve my issue.

That is a strange one that I have never heard of before, glad you sorted it out.
Maybe the dipstick tube had been put in the wrong way by a previous owner?
