Sierra cosworth uprated diff mount question
Hi.
My saph came with a billet rear diff mount and it ruins the enjoyment of driving the car.
It transmits a lot of noise through the car and clunks etc.
I'm not sure if it's a nylon insert or poly.
Is there a way to tell, iirc the bush is black.
Has anybody any experience of these mounts and noticed no difference in noise, harshness through the transmission??
Don't use it much but it's really really annoying and something I can't live with.
Thanks,lee

Hi Lee I've got an uprated mount on mines don't know the brand as it was fitted before I bought it and my diff has done 10k miles since being rebuilt with new bearings ect and it's got a slight whine on a straight drive that I'm assuming is cause of the mount, it's does clunk and bang while turning but I've got a gripper fitted so that's normal for me.

They drive better with them on but depends what you have, could be a cheapo off eBay, got mine from GGR and it's perfect, swap it for a standard one and give it a try see if it makes a difference for you.

10K+ Poster!!
My old one had a fair bit of play in it so I replaced it with an MK motorsport one off Mark Walker (Flat Track on here)

Well, it will be a little more harsh than standard but shouldn't be that bad, as far as I'm aware it's quite an important upgrade to minimise suspension deflection? Or something like, road versions should be polybushed, some eBay versions are nasty, probably untested.

Try a standard one first, cheap to buy and an easy swap, you might like it? Before shelling out for another grpA that might be similar to what you have.

I rebuilt the rear suspension, transmission, brakes etc of my car a few months ago – including an MSD poly diff mount and yellow poly beam mounts. I've no complaints about the handling (lots of great traffic-free roads here in southwest France!); but the whines, clonks, road noise, etc give the impression that everything's pretty knackered, and destroy my enjoyment of driving the car to an extent. So I'm going back to standard mounts . . .
