Default Heat wrapping downpipe

I was looking into buying some heat wrap for the downpipe on my 4x4 restoration to try and keep temps down around the front prop / gearbox etc.
has anyone done theirs and whats your thoughts? any downsides etc.

Cant help you with a Saff but when we were modifying my Sons 2001 Subaru Impreza WRX Sti one of the various mods we did was put a tuned length exhaust manifold on it and we heat wrapped it to try to keep the under bonnet temps down. Seems to work ok but we took it to 365 bhp. If your rebuild is with standard engine spec I really dont think it will be a problem for you.
