Issue with filling Saff with fuel...
Its always done it, but its really doing my head in now!
Try to put fuel in my Saff, and it takes ages and nozzle keeps 'clicking' as if full.
If the tank is nearly empty, I can put £10 or so in with no problem then it becomes a nightmare and literally manage to get a few quid at a time and sometimes chucks fuel back out at you!
Someone suggested the breather on the tank may be blocked? Any experience with this or other suggestions? Tank looks fairly recent although must have been done by a previous owner. Unsure if a genuine or pattern part.
Cheers!

Takes two minutes to blow through the breather to check if its blocked or not. My Escort suffered similar at the pumps and still does from time to time, but i know my breather is clear.
Just accepted it as character, tho I've never had fuel thrown back at me, the nozzle should stop it overfilling like that. Makes me think your's is perhaps a blocked breather so may be a cheap fix..

sometimes i have the same problem with my old fiat.
i always solved it by just moving the car to another pump.
it happens me in more than one gas station.
in those cases the problem is a too sensible pump-gun...
.. and i got the bad habit to stop the car near the faulty ones, already knowing and without thinking.
weird thing is: next car, same faulty pump-gun, no problem. (so my breather may not be working so good too)
this fact...
suggests it highly likely could be an almost fully plugged breather hose.
good luck with it...
let us know what it really was, once you solved it.

Wahay!! I've lost my Virginity!!
Mine did this after putting on an after market tank. The breather pipe is slightly smaller and I had to modify the hose to fit it on. If yours is a new tank it's probably because of this. It's really annoying so I'm going to find a genuine when I can be bothered to fit it.

Thanks for all your help guys.
Tackled this at weekend and was a lot easier than I expected. The breather pipe on the sender unit was damaged slightly and someone had tried to fix it with silicon sealer...however there was a big splodge of sealer stuck inside the breather. All cleaned out and back on now!
Thanks again!
