Default Running with no oil cooler or Modine?

Has anyone ever done this? Basically I have a Setrab oil cooler in mine and the oil never really gets over 80C. I wan to disconnect the cooler by capping off the sandwich plate. I'm then going to take the car a drive to see what the temps are.

If they go higher then they usually do I'll put the miodine back in. I just don't want ot go the the hassle of removing/refitting things if they won't make a difference.

Don't run the modine on the rally cars, just an external oil cooler, you need the oil temp over 100deg c

Rather than capping off the cooler why not just partially blank it off to reduce airflow through it and see how that goes. At least then you have a measure of control over the level of cooling it provides.

I don't have any oil cooler on mines and it's fine for fast road but haven't tracked it yet. When I do though I think I'll fit a cooler with thermostat.

I replaced the modine with thermostated sandwich plate to feed oil cooler and it all seems to work well.

The modine is a heat exchanger it also warms the oil

I need to raise both the oil and water temps. So I'm hoping the binning the oil cooler and refitting the modine creates perfect harmony in my engine
