Car wont start from cold fuel pump wont switch off when ignition on
Hi
I am having some problems with me car.
I have just upgraded to L8 with a MSD chip.
I seem to have a problem the fuel pump will constantly run, it used to pump for 3 seconds and switch off.
i have also noticed that the ICSV is clicking.
The car will not fire.
i did get it to start last night and thought it may be priming as when warm no problem.
If i un-plug the ICSV that will stop clicking but the pump will keep running.
i can hear fuel flowing through the fuel rail
Any ideas.
Cheers tim.

You gotta check everything, spark?, fuel return to the tank?
If the pump is still running I assume a sensor thinks it is not up to pressure OR it isn't getting up to pressure.

Yeah it constantly runs pressure reads 50 psi so its getting upto pressure.
Went back to the car and switched ignition on and nothing, and car started.
Could be a sticking relay ????

It has a standard board in.
I got it from Gary at RS classics only about a week ago and this is its first run.
He did say it come froma good car.
When running i cant get it to idle nice.
The car has anti-lagon with the mod to the throttle body and ICSV as per the instruction that come with the MSD chip.
When trying to adjust the base it does not seem to do anything, and when i plug the ICSV back in it idles at about 900 - 1200 and keeps fluctuating almost as if it getting clogged uo but "CO" is fine...

Maybe MSD could check the ecu?

I will call them in the morning, but does anyone know what the map for MSD should idle at....
I know Harvey Gibbs maps idle at approx 1100 rpm.
I have just quickly set the "CO" up by resetting the potetiometer ( turned 5 turns clockwise then 2 backwards.
car does not smell rich anymore and i was setting this up in the garage.
I will set on Saturday as it's MOT time.
But does seem to idle much better.
BUT....when setting the base idle it now has the screw under the throttle body "fully wound in which took the base idle ( with ICSV un-plugged to approx 850rpm, but as soon as its connected it sits at 1000rpm, but seems much more smooth and not lumpy...
I think ECU is OK, will test again when i finish work ,but the pump seems to just run constant when very cold.
Once started it seems to work fine....
Cheers

What if you unplug the ISCV?

There is no pressure sensor, it could well be the relay, as you suspect.
The ISCV also gets power from it as well, hence this will have power as well.
Be careful with the CO pot as well, this subtracts fuel as a percentage, so you can end up running lean!
