Default Sapph Rear Trailing Arm ARB brackets

Hi

Can someone assist me in making some cardboard templates to fabricate the ARB rackets to weld/mount on the rear trailing arms on a sapphire.

These are the brackets that are part of where the handbrake cable goes through. So would be inner of the wing.

On my suspension they are non existent and I wish to add the brackets to install 19mm rear ARB. I have the ARB, bushes and mounting p-brackets to the body.

Please give drawings of the cut outs with fold lines and dimensions.

My plan is to have the brackets welded into the trailing arms and make up adjustable links using rose joints.

Please advise

Cheers

Thanks Caddyshack

Is he on the forum perhaps?

I stay in SA, a quick call is not a viable option at this stage.

Does this help you??

Steppy is it similar to my reference pic?

Just want to be clear as to what I'm needing Took this pic from Pauls post. (Hope you don't Mind )

See the bracket to connect the drop link onto

I need the cut-out and dimensions of those bracket and pin.

However I'm going to make is slightly longer so that it goes into the trailing arm by cutting a slot into it, if that makes sense.

Cheers

Yes it does the same job, instead of it having the peg like the original the drop link gets bolted on, I'll try to get time to get under it later and take a picture for you of how it is

So basically you mock up the position of those brackets to where the drop links come down and tack and weld in position

You using bolt and nut to fasten it? How do you still keep the movement?

You got it, then fully weld the bracket, i used shanked bolts so the bush sits over the shank that way the nut can't nip it up stopping movement

Okay but is there still allow for spherical movement when tightened? as the link would move up and down?

No problem Yes it gets full movement as there is no pinching force on the bush from the nut, the nut is simply there to stop the drop link from coming off like the ball on the mounting peg of the original, Google shanked bolt and look on images you will understand

Hi All

Just reviving and old thread. What is the length between the centers of the stock drop link? I'm going to be making up adjustable and need to know what the shortest length is

Also just reviewing the above mod. If I were to copy the stock setup, welding a U-Shaped bracket off the brake pipe holder bracket, can somebody please kindly provide me some dimensions and possible drawing of this as i would like to replicate this to weld onto my vehicles suspension trailing arms

We are going to cut out the current pin on the ARB and weld in a shouldered bolt on both ends ARB and the mounting bracket

Cheers

Just to update this thread

Bracket welded on trailing arm. Is welded using 3mm steel plate and gusset braced

Pins were ground and knocked out

M10 Galvanised steel closed bottle type rigging screw used

Shackles were ditched and bought 2 sets of M10 rose joints with associated hardware

Will update later when all is connected. I forgot to take a pic during the fitment.

I'm all for DIY, but those look painfully heavy! Thought of using a lighter material or are they really not that heavy in reality.
Rosejoints were probably a good shout as I imagine those shackles would be fairly brittle

I wouldn't be able to tell the difference to compare from stock original as I didn't have from the start. however I weighed it just out of interest For me its about strength to take up tension and purpose.

It also has a rated WLL of 0.5 ton with the shackles of course not with the rose joints.

cheers
