Default 2wd water temp gauge not working

Hi all

I changed the oil pump due to the pressure dropping all is good with that but now but the coolant temp gauge has died during this! The sensors good I know that but there's no power to it. On the wiring diagram it shows it's a direct feed from the instrument cluster and I'm guessing that's where it gets it live from to?

Cheers all JC

It's the earth, but yes you should see power here, I assume you did check this with the ignition on?

Has the cable got pulled etc when you lifted the engine?

Cant be the earth as its earthed through the head and there's a soil Earth on that. I shorted out the wire to earth and the gauge didn't move at all to. Yup all checked done with ignition on.

I re ran the wire round the front by the intercooler before the engine was lifted but it's a possibility, trying to avoid chasing it through the loom but I think that's the only other option now.

The wire your talking about is the earth for the gauge and it connects to the cluster, it will be the exposed part if anything. You won't be able to trace it back any further as it will be part of the loom. Is the connector clean etc?

Check first if power is present before your repair.

Mine stopped working and it turned out to be the gauge itself but on this occasion I would say youve disturbed the wiring somewhere.

It's only one wire so should be easy to trace

Cheers for the help chaps. Traced it back today and the cable had a break in it past the injectors in the plastic conduit. All working now
