Hi guys, just found that one of my wheel nuts on the front of a 4x4 saff cossie has a stripped thread as tried removing it and all it's doing is just turning. Any ideas how I could remove this?

If the stud is turning your stuck with drilling it really especially if you don't want to damage the wheel

You could try jacking the car up and supporting it in a safe manor. Then remove the nuts that are ok then get someone to pull against the wheel as you turn the nut that is giving you trouble. If you have access to a impact gun it may help more.

This is of course only applicable if its the threads that are naff and not the splines that locate the stud in the flange.

I think after trying the above I would be buying a few new drill bits, centre punch a few places, protect the wheel as best you can and get drilling.

Other than that I would mask the wheel, grind a flat on the nut and mig something to the nut and then slide hammer the thing off.

You'll need a 14mm drill bit
Centre punch a hole in the middle of the nut then use a screw to remove the cover
Then drill one inch down with a 6mm drill bit followed by the 14mm bit
You'll need a new stud and nut but it's the easiest way to do it, shouldn't take more than about 15 minutes

Is the stainless cover part of the nut just spining on the nut body
If so try and remove the stainless cover part and use smaller socket proberbly 18mm
