Default Problem

Hi all need a bit help & advice.

On the way home from ford fair yesterday my speedo started playing up?
It was showing on 110 instead of 70? on average about 40mph out & bouncing
This has never happened before I pulled on the services to have a quick check on everything but all seemed fine, set off again & it started again??? If anyone could shed some light on this I would be grateful.
It's a staph cos 4x4
Cheers Lee

Crank sensor has nothing to do with it. The speedo is driven mechanically from the front left drive shaft. It's probably the cable that is bent causing the speedo to wobble. And otherwise it would be the speedo itself.

It is easy to remove the plastic drive. Check the speedo cable first but if it is the drive I have a spare that you can have...I think it's only 3 bolts but I cannot remember if you lose the front diff oil, prob would benefit from the change anyway.

If the oil has only just gone I then no harm in getting it out clean and refilling.
