Coolant temperature sender replacement
Last week the temperature sender for my dash gauge died on my sapph 4x4. A new sender has just arrived in the mail, I just need to fit it (which I don't look forward to, looking at the location ). But would the sender need sealant, like loctite or something? Or can you just screw it in?

If you look at it the sensor is tapered so the more your tighten the more it bites.
I have seen them where they have become rounded off as too much torque has been applied, then you would need lots of sealant

I want to replace mines aswell, I too couldn't even find it until someone says where about a it was. I was thinking it looks easier to change it by jacking the car up and stretching is this so?

I could easily put a 13mm socket with extension on it and remove it. Putting it back was also not that difficult. Luckily the extension bar was just the right length, as mine is LHD and there is only about an inch between the ABS MC and the inlet manifold to stick the ratchet in between. I also undid the top mount of the oil dipstick so I had a little room from above to remove the plug.
