Default Sierra boot locks

How many different versions of lock is there?

I have a xr4i with a push button release in centre console with the bottom lock in picture

I have bought a base model mk1 tailgate to replace my rusty tailgate but it has the lock in the top of the picture. Does this mean the tailgate still used a push button or a pull cable or neither? Will the wiring be the same as the lock is different.
Other problem I have is I dont have a let for new lock so is it possible to get a key cut somehow from the number printed on lock. Many Thanks ben

You can strip them down and replace just the barrel to keep the same key. (as long as it's the same lock)

I found a brand new boot lock for £8.99 on ebay. When it arrived I stripped my old down and the new one, swapping the barrels to keep the same key and gaining a brand new housing.

Early sapphire's has push button later sapphires had a turn key wit cable release. Both of which are std Sierra, not Cosworth specific

Hi mate I know exactly what your talking about with the locks.

I had the same when I built my 3 door rep .

If right The xr4i doesn't have central locking on the boot does it???
I had that arrange ment.

I then change it to a 3dr Cossie boot lock mechanism and this was your bottom picture .
But it didn't have the same style mechanism so I couldn't fit the the the boot popper solenoid .
I had to swap some wiring too.

Thanks for all your help, I've only ever been able to use my boot through the release button so don't know if works on central locking but rest of car does have central locking.

Would I be better off taking off the whole inside of my bootlid lid contents and transferring it into the new bootlid or will it all just swap over. Thanks
