Default Plenum spacers 10,14,17mm ????

Just browsing ebay and saw these three sizes advertised, (10,14,17mm)
I have an eec IV inlet going on my build and figure one of these will be good.

I had heard the 10mm was worth getting, never seen 14 or 17mm presented.
Has anyone got or heard any feedback on the value of these items (all sizes).

Thanks
Gavan

Default cover

i have a 14mm well engineered conversion works well with supporting mods-even looking at the flow from t/b far more space-its very restrictive standard

i have a whole kit for sale-will try and put better pics of the cover up later today

I remember something about the 10 mm could be a pain to fit, whereas the 14 mm is plug and play - relating to the fuel rail, somehow.

14mm is the lug width so it fits straight on.

Didn't know you could get 17mm... Do these make that much difference to performance?

Tidied a few things at once, don't know how much of the improvement the spacer made.

I would be interested in how much better the engine performs with these spacers too.

I bought one last week, 14mm, just waiting for it to arrive.

I might chuck it on before the live map, can only help.

My only question now is, the plenum cover has moved so the support bracket no longer lines up, how do you get around this?

Same here! Don't think it was even fitted properly before I had the car, as when I took the head off, i wasn't attached to the mount, as it just lifted off....

Im guessing the spacers are made of a phenolic/other none thermal conductive material to stop head getting to the plenum? Reduced IATs and all that as well as better flow.

My plenum cover has the original M5 stud which passes through the bracket for a nut.

If a spacer is added the bracket won't align, so another problem to sort.

I made a 14mm longer bracket from a piece of angle.

Many years back in the late 1990's a 14mm spacer made 10bhp on a 400bhp conversion its the only test ive heard of.

Well nearly right. Mark has told the full story, I was close considering my age . I remember the 10bhp gain but Mark has pointed out not at the topend.

So the spacer gained more power through the rev range but not at the top of it.

I might invest in a spacer.

The turbo was to small. A bigger turbo would have made more.

I borrowed Rod's spacer on my GT30 conversion. Made a big difference. More fuel had to be added to compensate.

So is a 10mm one on a saph with a t34 .63 Siemens and. Bd14 inlet worth having Mark?! I have one and yet to be mapped so if I would get more through the Rev range would be worth using, not like top end is used as much as we'd like lol.
Apreciate your input

I was going to originally then told by a few tuners it wasn't worth it unless going bigger than t34, but I've had it kicking about for ages and engine is out the car for its resto so could fit it when I give the engine a freshen up....

If you have it and its getting mapped then it is a slight benefit.

It can make it slightly softer on response if you go to big.
