Default Escort Cosworth wheels on a Sapphire?

Probably covered a million times already, But...

Do these fit straight on or do arches need rolled/pulled? (Standard 2WD Cosworth) What size tyres?

Any pics of them fitted at normal height? (Or does the car need lowering to look 'Right'?)

Cheers,
Ross.

Lowered 25mm
215/40/16 rear
205/40/16 front stretched but still lost of room

Also I will say it was on 17s and it's is nicer to drive on 16s. I dont know why but it grips better I and is lighter on the steering

I had 215s all round on mine and it rubbed on speed bumps etc on standard suspension and a bit with coilovers but rolled the arches and was fine.
Standard were 225s from memory so 215 is a bit stretched but nothing major other than not protecting the lip very well
I love mine but having to go bigger to fit APs doh!!!

Just search for threads titled "wrong offset" or "not the right wheels for my sapphire" and you should find what you're looking for

The offset is about 10 mm too low for a Sierra, which makes them stick out a lot. Looks awfull IMO.

To soft of a wheel for a Saph, the shape just doesn't work right IMO. Also the offset is all wrong.

What you say about driving better on the 16s is spot on, but why escorts alloys, there are so many nicer out there.
The offset on the EsCos wheel is too low, better with et 32-35 IMO.
Also don't see the point off running a wider 8" wheel and having 205 tyre , 225/45 16 is best all round.
See my thread in wheels for sale, for pics of 8x16 et32 wheels on Saff.

I only went for escos wheels as I wanted something 8" wide I originally got a set of compomotive th but the ofset was so far out (et07 I was told the wrong offset when I payed for them )

So I got these as a means of getting her back on the road

I'll be changing them but I'm a bit tight on funds at the moment. I did see you had some wheels up

Had them on my 3 door worst handling ride ever! As you say refurb the originals and save yourself thousands on wheel fetishes as you will no doubt go standard in the end anyway.

Cheers.

A little marmite if you ask me.

Something I've been toying with myself for a while. To pull them off you need to go lower which as anyone with an aftermarket exhaust knows will be a mare.

these wheels only suit the escos and frst and are just wrong on saphs, however a mate has the 8x18 version on a saph and they do look spot on but even he admits its drives crap with them

That's what I don't want on the Sierra, I want to be able to actually drive it without worrying about rubbing/tram lining... So the original will be staying!

Escort Cossie wheels sit spot on when fitted to a saph, standard offset looks shit with the wheels tucked right in. I would have had escort Cossie wheels on my saph if I didn't have bigger brakes.

Best looking Ford wheel that can go on a Saph in my opinion. Standard offset looks dreadful, especially at the back.

215/40-16 sits just nice on the 8 inch rim with only a hint of stretch, and handles perfectly fine. Will need some very sight arch work if sitting low...

I've had them on for nearly 9years and It wouldn't be my car without them, 205/40/16 all round no scrubbing, only difference between this pic and now is that I have lowered the back 25mm
I have a spare set in the loft just incase as they are fetching big bucks nower dayz....

I think Escos wheels on a Saff look the business!

Personally speaking, having the standard Cossie or Escos wheels look the best as Comps and the like are so common now.

All the pics of the Cossies in this thread look great but Rollin Rides Cossie looks the mutts nuts!!!

Arnt wheels like your choice of women a personal preference so fit what you want some will like them some wont. I personally hate little wheels even more so when they are from another Ford. I also Prefer bigger diameter wheels on the back than on the front but most don't.

I love escos wheels but think the sierra is the worst car to put them on. Really doesn't suit them at all imo.

If supercars do it can only be a good thing Rod!! We fit 20s at the back and 19s on the front of the Mac 650s at work!!

Always loved my escos wheels on my saph but think the 18" revolutions will look a lot better with the APs under them

If you want to put 8X18 wheels on a sapphire cosworth 2wd (standard) what would be the right et?

Would 8x18 et35 fit staight under front and back?

Good plan, they are "marmite" wheels people love them or hate them! I am a hate them myself, they just dont look right on a Sapphire.

Look great in my opinion. They do rub occasionally when at speed over bumpy surface. That's lowered 10mm with 215 tyres.

Don't shoot me down in flames here guys, but i think monte wheels look better... Ok, I know the answer to that; If you like them that much, just buy Comp TH's and get the right offset!?

As above, I like Glenn's Saff on Focus wheels...
