Default Sierra roof skin swap! any threads on it ?

Going to swap the roof skin on my 3dr to get rid of the "chopped in sunroof"

I've done a search the best I can on here and the net but can't really find much info/pics,

I know roughly how to go about it but I do like to have a read and look at a few pics before I get the axe out

Any info would be appreciated

Cheers guys

Could a body shop not weld in a panel to lose te sunroof? Most body shops should be able to do it both ways

It's the heat of welding a patch in over a big flimsy area mate, it'd warp the roof I assume ?

I've got a new skin with the tilt n slide sunroof in

I've seen a few on here wear people fit carbon roofs to saffs and that didn't look to hard. But on a saff its a line of spot welds under the front and rear windows and the rest is under the 2 roof rails! I'm guessing it's a fair bit harder on a 3dr as its a hatch back and don't have roof rails to hide the joins if you get what I mean

There will be spot welds behind the front screen and in the boot opening, I'm assuming there will be spot welds in the roof gutters under the sealant

The roof skin from any Mk1 sierra will fit the 3dr, so find a good 4dr in a breakers I if you can these days) and just chop the whole thing off at the pillars then de skin it in the comfort of your home. Wels are on the inner gutter and front and back screen areas.

I actually had it done the other way, had a non sunroof skin on a motorsport shell swapped out for a sliding sunroof version.
