ARB Shimming
Hi all, I have the H13 antiroll bar on my 3 door and was wondering if anyone knows what the gains of castor would be relating to different shim thickness?
I am thinking of putting a 2mm washer, well actually just doubling up on the outer bush washer.

PS- does anyone know the standard length of a 3 door TCA from centre of 12mm crossmember bolt to centre of ball joint ?

2WD Saphs had a different anti-roll with more Castor which improves stability at the expense of a slower turn-in. I think it increases understeer too but not sure on this one.
Shimming the roll bar from the back of the TCA bush will push the wheel forward increasing the Castor. By how much you can either work out with some Trig or get a Castor gauge.
Of course the amount doesn't matter too much if you find the car better to drive. Shimming is a cheap way to find out if you prefer more Castor. Or just get a Sapphire roll bar.

Thanks very much for reply, But does reducing camber without steering input (static straight wheels) effect castor?
I read somewhere (Mike Rainbird) I believe that a 2wd H14 Antiroll bar pushes the wheels forward by 12mm gaining 1 degree of Castor, on that basis/distance/etc one would imagine that 60minutes divided by twelve would equal 5mins per mm at standard ride height?
Does this make any sense or am I clutching straws?

In theory reducing the length of the tca (reducing camber) would increase castor, but I think castor changes much because of that. You would need to measure all the lengths to see how much it all influences each other.
I don't know how much the H14 is longer than the H13, but if it's 8mm it might push the wheels forward by 12 mm since the arb connects to the tca closer to the crossmember. If you know the distance from the bottom ball joint to the strut top (with the car on its wheels) you can calculate how much castor increases from placing the wheel 1 cm more forward.
