Have a problem with my 89 sapphire it won't start! It has spark and checked injector pulses with a noid and all getting signal. The plugs are not getting wet tho. It's running wasted spark and all sensors are new. Iv tested fuel pressure and I have 32psi so enough. The injectors are new Siemens it was running a few months back but it's been apart now it won't start. any ideas guys?
Had the phase sensor out and re gapped it's new too, also tried the plug inside both ways. I turned the fuel pressure up a bit later but the plugs were dry still. Didn't think of the plugs the wrong way around il have a look at that.
Also pinched the ecu off my other car so going to try that too, it's driving me around the bend now!!
I feel your pain. Its always the same running fine do a few upgrades then it don't bloody work.
Best one I had tuned a mates car 330 bhp all good. Drained the cooling system to fit a 500 cooler and water pipes and then it would never run right. ended putting the old set up in ran fine. Found out later that the map sensor had coolant in it where I drained it out of the header tank. And there a sealed unit go figure.
Yeah it's testing me! I had it running last Xmas, needed fine tuning but half there now it's been apart it's dead! It's the dry plugs I can't get my head around. Yeah the feed and return are ok, I had to replace the feed so that's the only change. Their temperamental old things at the best of times but iv always managed to get them running apart from this time.
I'm going to go through it all again then if I can't get it to run will be taking it to scs.
Yeah I bet, I'm fed up too so will end up taking it some where like scs but it's all more money again! Can see how people get fed up and end up breaking.
lee are you getting the right resistance at the injectors to keep them opening and running

Havnt checked the resistance james just used a noid to see if I was getting a signal which I am. I'm starting to think that for some reason although the injectors are fireing their not squirting enough fuel in even tho I have good fuel pressure and a tank full of fuel?
What exactly has been changed since the last time it was running? Wasted spark board swapped? Loom change?
Had an engine fire but loom wasn't damaged, all connection have been disconnected and inlet off but other than that nothing else taken off. The loom is the original that I am going to replace eventually just wanted to get it up and running again for now.
Not sure anything is possible but it was fine before. I'm going to go through the lot again start from scratch then if can't get any joy il take it to a specialist.
Lee the reason I asked is I learnt the other day while having my loom sorted that the early coil pack drivers fire slightly differently, or the loom needs wiring slightly differently anyway. Try swapping the leads around 1-4 with 2-3 to see how you get on.

Nash, the plugs are not wet so no fuel.
Lee, How are you checking the fuel pressure?
Are all engine earths ok? plenum check with meter on ohms
Spent last 2 days on it and still no joy!
Nash, u were right about the leads, I swapped them and it tries to start so leads were on wrong. But still not getting wet plugs, tweaked the fuel pressure to 40 psi, removed each injector and they are all fireing but removed the inlet and the fuel appears to be some how getting blown back into the inlet so the injectors seem to be fireing at the wrong time. Any ideas? Been through the timing and gaps etc over and over!
Ok it's 40psi when I'm turning it over but with the vacuum pipe off if I could get it to run it increases to around 50 psi, it has run on this fuel pressure previously. Il try turning the pressure up a bit more, it's a wrc Bosch regulator and it's not very old so should be ok?
Try another regulator. I still think its leaking hence the fuel in the plenum. and the fact its below 3.5 bar 50.75 psi. can't see how the fuel from injectors would get into plenum.
The problem I have is it's a wrc Bosch regulator with all -6 fittings so I'm stuck to try another regulator I do have the original but all the hoses are -6.
I'm going to have a break for a few days from it and come back with a fresh head it's been a right pain in the neck.
