Default sequential gearbox for 3 dr

I am considering a sequential gearbox for my 3dr project... from UK the elite seems like a good option there are some good ones closer to home such as TT from NZ. Track use plus occasional road use. These two options look like best for money.

I have a motec m800 ecu too btw and some different ap button clutches and a twin plate clutch. I figure with the motor over 400Hp I might as well get the gearbox in rather than blow the T5.

Anyhow, to those who have fitted them, what was it like, what would you suggest with the benefit of hindsight.

Thanks in advance.

Had a quaife g33 ,sold it
Went for a elite hd box , went straight in the hole
You just need a few bits inc box mount ( easy to make )
And prop which they can supply

My mate has an elite in his staff the box total transforms the car! It's never off boost as its flat shift flat out! But not really a box for a road car

A lot better , you will have plenty of cash
Left over with the elite ( if I remember right
I think it's about 2k )but that was a good 2 years ago .
And the box is so much lighter
And no cutting needed what so ever

Your comment that it is not really a box for a road car has me rethinking.
Is it an impossible box on the road ?, I had intended to do some road use with car club runs etc. The guys at elite said it would be ok so long as you did not hold in 1st for two long. I had figured that so long as it is not used in heavy traffic (aka peak hour) it would be ok.
But maybe I am wrong.
Given the car has not been on the road for nearly a decade I don't think I would drive it on there that often . I just figure that if I put in a decent gearbox that I wont have to replace it, and the sequential is a great update. Even though its not something for the road. I had figured I could still drive the car without flogging it... just take it easy.It would just mean the shifts were quicker. (Like my moto X bike, I can ride it easy). It would just be noisy.

Gearing was mentioned above .
Yes I got the prop from them ,
I have not used mine yet as still doing bit to the car
But by all accounts they are noisy but what do you expect from a straight cut box .
I will be using mine on the road and track .

There is a vid on here by the guy that had the others one ( we got 2 together ) with him using it , so you can here it
Sounds nice lol

His user name was ( a rs licker )
Have a search and see what you get

I've been out inajamesc's mate's Sierra fitted with the Elite 'box. Have to agree with him, it's awesome and totally transforms the way the car drives. It's like having a different engine in some ways as once it's on boost it just doesn't get time to tail off, making it a fantastic road car in that respect as even with a GT35 fitted there's simply no noticeable drop in boost or power.

However, it was a little tricky to use on the road compared to a normal gearbox. It prefers to be driven flat out, although you can use the clutch still. It's also a little jerky and a little noisy but not that bad with a full interior I thought. I've driven a stripped out car with a sequential and that was obviously a lot worse.

Overall the benefits far outweigh the minor points if you can live with the added harshness and if it's a road car that's used once in while I wouldn't think twice about it.

Dan had a problem with his and had to take it back as he was using the clutch too much?
His is just a toy so not used everyday and he dose a lot of track days. If you can live with the fact it's not really for a road car and very expensive then do it it's a great box

He did tell me at the time that Elite told him to avoid using the clutch

Waht puts me off is the maintenance intervals. You Need to return the box to Elite for Service every year if I remember right.

Here's a on board vid of a Elite Box in a 2WD Sierra:

There's more Videos of the car on this channel.

Looks great in the vid but I bet it would chunter and snatch in sainsburys car park at 20 mph.....great for race cars but would like to try one on the road before dropping a load on one.

I checked on the maintenance service requirements for the gearbox as suggested... every 20-30 hrs (one racing season) you remove gearbox and inspect and would replace fork pins, seals, drop gear bearings, and dog rings if they are showing signs of wear.
This would be to short an interval for me, in Aus you can rack up 6-7 hrs in a one day cruise, I think I will need to look for other options :-(

I was only looking at elite, I think they are for a more racing oriented user and they are great, I just will book too many hours servicing which sucks ... I don't know if all sequentials are like this...
