air con on a cosworth, retro fitting
well with all these million pound cosy's with factory air con, what would be the best route in retro fitting air con to a sapphire cos?
At a guess, im thinking find a donor 2000E sapphire, and rob all its aircon bits, but would you need some escort cosworth parts to complete the conversion?
its all about them 3 hot days a year in the UK when you wish you had air con

just pondering the idea glenn,
tho i want a small list of little plastic, carpet and other trim bits, along with some uncrushed floor jacking points,
so buying a complete 2000E could be the most cost effective way.
not that there is any 2000Es left!

Too many posts.. I need a life!!
i did it many years ago,took it out of a ghia,you have to cut a hole in the bulkhead,not a hard job,but a lot to take out,dash etc..
i still have a bottle of r12 gas around somewhere

Yes Martin bought a saff and removed the bulk head piece but the Aircon pipes/pump and compressor are all from different fords but in my eyes(I am biased) it's the only car that has a full ford system fitted amongst other upgrades.

I bought a 4x4 2 litre ghia estate as a runaround years ago and pulled the a/c system out of it to fit to my old 3dr, never got around to it and binned it all!
The bulkhead panel is only spot welded on, easy enough to chop out and fit into the normal bulkhead.
The system on mine is from the Mk1 sierra so no bulkhead mod required by the looks of it, was a kit for the lhd pinto sierra's ford offered via the dealers.

This is spot on my mate and myself have stripped loads of sierras over the years and basically the panel has 2 square holes in it. You will need the other type of panel that sits infront of the wipers.

Shells easy to modify...
just need that lump out of a air con equipped car, I also have a spare set of virtually everyrthing you need from the air con car as ive bought 3 times as much... with martings bulkhead panel, and a loat of bits from here you would only need the compressor and you would have everything you need..

Todays Update... Aircon Modifications...
Well after the last update, she got left alone for a few weeks whilst I did some butt kicking of my own, sorted some problems on the azura and generally sorted a couple small life issues, well smiler said he would come around to help today so I said ok and we cracked on with a bit of a moral booster of a job (there needed sometimes on huge projects like this )
Today we added the bulkhead panels that means the car is now an air con car \/ \/
Yes i do all my own stunts grinding paint off ready to weld the bulkhead panel in (taken without permission )
Hmm, an interesting view on a V6 24v, not seen by many fools
Work completed for the day.
Overall I a quite happy with the work achieved, not all plug welds were completed, and it wasnt painted red as planned but overall were in reasonable shape.
There might not be a worthy update for a few weeks now, got a few small jobs to finish off before carrying on with the rust busting.
In Reality about a days work if im lucky, but that depends how much free time I get

- Finish plug welding front wing
- Finish welding wing on and align with indicator
- Finish plug welding A/C bulkhead
- Paint A/C bulkhead Red
- Finish Cleaning up coinslots, reinforcing ARB Bolt Brackets and close up.
In Reality about a days work if im lucky, but that depends how much free time I get
