As you know these command a good price and it is a very good example so it was a fair bit of money but well worth it in my eyes. The car will be used quite regular. It wasn't advertised, I'm a friend of his and put my name on it back when he acquired it.
He is having a clear out, his mondeo was a very cheap car IMHO.

Nick (new owner) asked for first refusal some time ago and I gave him that option a few days ago, this wasn't an easy call and he didn't hesitate to acquire the car.. I have been a bit emotional all day after the deal was done, I have way too much previous with this car and tbh I still don't know that I have done the right thing. It will be my last 3dr/500 and I'd never try to replicate it. I will try to do a deal with him so I can have it for a couple of weeks a year. Even my 19 yr old daughter has memories of us on hols in this car and my wife is sad too. Big wrench.

It's amazing how attached we can get to bits of metal an plastic. My saph was used at my wedding as the misses wedding car. I know how hard it would be for me to sell that let alone a stunning car like that!

Thats why im very surprised you parted with it Martin! I know ur clearing out ur toys etc but i thought with the history you had with it you would of kept it! But im sure matey will look after it well. I wish i had the money for ur escort its my favourite perforance cosworth of all time and ive been watching its progress from day one i be gutted to see it dissapear from the scene :-( i wouldnt hesitate to buy it if had the money but looks like i will have to stick with my 1/18th model for now lol

I've decided to sell almost everything (not Firenza) and buy one special car (yes I know the 500 is pretty special) but hopefully I'm moving up and I will be happy with this car.

My middle name is OCD so I will keep this in the manner it is accustomed plus the same as Martin it will be used for European adventures.
And on the bonus side for Martin he'll get to see me more often..

Agreed, Shows that if built right they are a car you can rely on

As per other replies on the thread lovely car and its great news to hear its going to be used not stuck in collection and never turn a wheel like so many of them.

Interested to see what Martin gets next, and glad to hear the shonky vauxhall is staying put
