Default 3 door cossie idle

I cleaned my iscv 2 weeks ago as the car was hunting , all was ok but now the car idles at a constant 1500rpm , how do I turn this down? I know theres a little screw under the body which wont turn as its stuck .

Any ideas ?

There should be a locknut on the screw?

My basic understanding of it is,

The engine must be up to temp with the fans coming on and idle valve disconnected and nothing on. Let the fans turn off.
850rpm -900rpm is what your looking for .
When plugging the idle valve back on it should raise the revs and settle back to its setting.

The above is correct.

However, given this has only occurred since you started working on it.

Disconnect the ISCV... if the speed decreases to what the base idle should be, then it is set correctly and the valve is the problem.

Did you properly strip the iscv to clean it?

As above, the base idle needs setting, that or you have an air leak.

It would be a gasket, the base idle is the first thing to do.

It's an air leak.

Yes, a Gasoline engine speed increases by air.

Therefore, there is an air leak, after the T/B, most likely a gasket on the inlet.

If you spray WD40 sparingly around this area with the engine running, you will hear a change in speed when you have found it.

What do you define by "where it should be"?

At running temperature it should be 850-900 RPM, if it doesn't sound right it maybe it's too low, the base idle is the first thing to get right.

If not, then the valve is being told to open that much, but that's another discussion.
