Default Open air filters and bonnet vents

Is it OK for an open air filter on a Cosworth to sit somewhat below the bonnet vent? I can imagine the filter getting wet in the rain which doesn't sound too good. But I don't think that many people with open air filters have closed the bonnet vent from below. Or are they not driving it in the rain?

You are right , when it rains you will get water dripping down onto your filter. That is why on my 2wd Saff i have got my cone filter fitted inside an aluminium group A air box. It also helps to keep it cooler and prevents any crap getting sucked into the air filter.I have never seen another one on other Saffs but I think it is good.
Cheers Richard from Southampton.
