New Lithium Ion battery for the 3 Door ***Final Installation It Runs***
Last event of the year at Prescott Nigels scooby battery packed up after some asking around we found a fella Allan McDonald who sells these Lithium Ion batteries which are tiny and super light mainly used on single seaters, but Allan said they would work fine on road going application.
I have to say I wasn't covinced as looking at it, it looks like it wouldn't run a R/C car but we put it on and it fired up and ran the scooby perfectly and has done for 6 months now so I decided to get one myself.
Here it is i'll let the photos do the talking but you can see the weight saving alone is huge i'll get some more photos when it's all wired in:

Funnily I'd talked about these with a rally man last year. Are you mounting it in a non standard location?
The battery tray is coming out as it's looking alittle rusty
So just going to make a suitable mounting box/tray next to the inner wing with and redo the wiring and fit alittle fuse box setup.

Can a standard cossie alternator charge them ok and what's the price on a charger?!
This is a pm I recieved from Allan on the Uphill Racers forum:

If you just keep a check on the charge indicator you will know whats needed.
Any alternator is fine to charge the battery as long as it produces more than 12.4v but no more than 15.0v

Quick update, here it is pretty much finished just needs the wires tiding up abit more (just zipped tied for the moment) new engine loom still has to go in and the Anderson Connector.

What's even better now i've binned off the ABS and the battery tray removing and installing the inlet manifold is a piece of piss, so easy to get to the lower nuts now even with my oafish hands.

Awesome the original ABS system was never right, I love the Dual Master Cylinder setup it doesn't have any Servo assist so the pedal is very hard but the feel you get is so much better.
Plus you save a load of weight removing the ABS hardware and wiring.
Update on the battery, I've ran it all season and it hasn't missed a beat.
It will only last about a week without being started but give it a jump off the Anderson connector and away you.
I can highly recommend one if your after some weight saving.
Interested in this Sonic for my track car, how do you have the anderson connectors set up for a quick Jump start?
You see the red and black thick cables in the bottom right of the last photo they run to the Anderson plug in the front bumper, then they in turn run to the body earth and live multi block.
But there's nothing stopping you running the leads straight to the battery, I just did it this way for neatness

Ye that's exacty what i'm going to do over winter get a trickle chargers and put an Anderson connector on so I can just plug it into the front of the car without even lifting the bonnet.

That's basically what I've got, just a Halfords trickle charger, with a small two pin plug coming through the grill...
Could be worth looking into, I'd like to put it in the boot... Not that I trust myself not to fuck up the wiring!?
