Default 3dr headwork

Right im rebuilding my engine lookin to get around 500+ bhp and been told i require head work done! This is over my head so need info on what needs doin an who folk recommend to do such work?
I have 200 long studded block with 10 studs rather than 6 std/std crank new rods and forged pocketed pistons. Bottom end is gonna be sent away to be balanced so ideas on cam choice , engine spec welcomed aswell !

Ps im in midlands if its easier to narrow down for work needed to be done

Regards Bob

You can't go wrong with having a chat with Neil Roper:

I would also suggest getting a later 2wd head or a 4x4 one as they are better design. if your going to spend good money on a head its best to use the later type. Just my opinion tho

I have an early 2wd head, in fact one of the very first batch fitted to early 3dr's with the 21.5mm washer on the bolts instead of the standard 23mm

I've had quite a bit done to the head on mine both porting but i also had to mill the bracket on the side to allow for a large compressor housing on the turbo then the centre 6 bolt holes had to be opened right up to allow long studding

The later 2wd heads and 4x4 heads have better sealing around water jackets on the exhaust side. Hence why ford / cosworth had many gasket issues in the early days.

But you often find the later head suffer badly from corrosion around the water jackets
