Default Quick bit of help please.. Crank oil seal (yb)

Morning all,

Just tapping in my new rear crank seal.. It's been that long since I took the old one out that I can't remember if it sits flush with the block or goes in much deeper?

Many thanks! I'll put the kettle on whilst I wait for a reply
Luke.

Press in or tap in till its all the way in and stops and I'm sure you'll find its in a tiny bit rather than flush.

Ford workshop manual says push till it stops. Maybe yours was a bit thicker. Victor reinz always sit in about 1mm as do the ford ones. Not sure about the 2 piece ford one as iv never used them.

Maybe the originals sat flush im not sure as I can't remember the last time I removed an original one. To be honest I wouldn't matter where it sat as it will seal and work either way.
