Mallard green 4x4 Sapphire
I picked up a 4x4 sapphire cosworth from a barn a few weeks ago, a bit of a barn find tbh. Anyway I first thought it was smokestone blue and didn't really pay much attention to the colour due to the huge amount of dust on the car. Now at the body shop under proper lights it certainly is metalic green. Checked the logbook and also green as the colour. Can't yet see any evidence of a full respray but not ruled it out yet.
Could it be a mallard green car? Didn't know they existed? If the colour was changed I assume someone could of had it updated on the logbook? Only a 2 owner car and no rust that we can find other than on the fire panel behind the battery.
Will post up some pics later this week.

One thing I can confirm is that must have been a total bare shell strip if it was painted as every millimetre of the car is this colour. Could of been a re-shell but again due to the normal signs of wear and tear it must have been done in the first couple of years of its life.

anyway have now discovered the full story. car was new in feb 1992, colour change was recorded with DVLA in 1993. Appears the car has had a new shell and this explains the amount of paint and no other colour underneath. So its a mallard green 4x4 cosworth since 1993, not as good as could of been obviously but still a result as there can't be many with a full shell paint like this? without the HPI check there is no way to tell the car has ever had a repaint, even the doors etc are green inside and out.
im bringing it back to as new condition and can't wait to see it, fantastic colour for the sapphire!

the car is being stripped at the moment and no rust at all anywhere, really pleased at how solid it is. another cossie saved from the grave yard and breakers!

Last Time, Get Off PF FFS
That's the photos when Bonkers started to look to find out which one was the last. I Think he said he wanted to look at the Vin plates that day but he wasn't allowed or something like that.

There used to be two Mallard Sapphires around my way back in a bout 95.One was a 88 car and the other an 89 .I had one and my mates old white one got colour changed
None were 4b's though.Lovely colour and I did mine from a strip and bare shell .
None factory obviously. They should of done sooner with the colour imo.
