Default EFR7064 on a Cossie

So have anyone tested the BW EFR7064 on a Cosworth yet? How is the availability these days?

What BW turbo would you use for approx 500 BHP Mark and are these a better bet than my GT3076.82 I have at the minute?

What are the costs of the BW's as well?

I might be interested in your GT30 Gary. That's if you want to sell it.

The 7064 is what you need. I tested a gtx3071 and at 3800rpm the bw had 335ftlb more than the gtx.

Do you sell these? How is the fitment? Could you possibly upload some pictures of this?

The difference is in the turbine wheel design; an inconel-type (read steel) will never be able to compare with titanium. Old style turbine wheels have leakage through the wheel, while the new BW has a "backing plate" much like the compressor, forcing more exhaust to drive the turbine rather than just leaking through the blades.

Do you have to change the manifolds to fit these or will one bolt to a 2wd manifold?

Martin what type you going to run and is it on a manifold. A 7064 may be a bit small on a large capacity engine.

Where can i get a proper manifold from mark and roughly how much are they?

Not an exact price as i know you will get wrong for putting it on here but a rough guide price would be nice

with the cossie manifold being open scroll it will loose a lot of the edge the efr series has imo.

my gt40 on rb27 doesn't run true twin scroll but being a straight 6 and the mani being divided 123 / 456 due to the firing order it keeps the pulses separate.

its only got a single wastegate that just runs off the both banks but imo that is irrelevant as the turbo has already spooled upto 1.7 bar before the gate opens and then lets the 2 flows collide by which time its irrelevant anyways as ive hit full boost and maintained it.

unless theres an open scroll t3 housing option I wouldn't bother, even then no doubt a proper twin scroll set up will help a lot especially on a 4 banger.

They do all of them with t3 open scroll option, I've just built a manifold for the 7670 for a Evo and that was t3 open scroll

They have single scroll options mate, http://www.full-race.com/store/turbo...064-turbo.html look at the .83 option which will be the one to choose for a 500bhp cossie.

It is the turbine wheel (and the exceptional compressor) that makes this turbo work, although the twin scroll will help additionally.

Imo it is the ultimate turbo so far. for its intended use anyways

And according to the compressor map it can produce almost 40psi at the amount of air where the Cossie reaches 4000rpm; hence why Mark says he experience extreme amount of torque statically that is.

I think this turbo will change things as it will surely destroy any stock T5 and mt75

At the moment the car has a GT3071 fitted on the std 2wd manifold and its nice and drivable, I was going to adapt an ex gate 7064 with the larger ex housing onto the stock manifold and see how they compare. I had been told by the dealer that they're similar sized turbos but I haven't checked anything yet, my main reasons for wanting to try one is because they are now quite cheap to buy (comparable to the GT series) and readily available from UK suppliers.

The exhaust housing is much taller and wont fit directly on a 2wd manifold.

Once you get over all the little bits that make it fit you will be stunned at the diff but do throw the 2wd manifold in the bin.

Mark,

Not that I am remotely disappointed with my end result, but how would mine of compared with a GT30, response and power terms?

For those who have no idea what I'm talking about, I am running a 7670 on a std 2wd manifold with modified trouser section.

what id like to see is a 7670 on a t3 and stock manifold, then on a t4 twin scroll manifold and see the difference.

have you done both yet mark on similar spec ybs or even evo lumps ?

Ok Will do, its purely out of interest really as for me it worked out the same cost as a GT30, once you add in all the bits. If and when I want a bit more power all i'll have to do is change the manifold.

I gave up doing single scroll turbo's a few years ago so I don't see myself making the effort to do a back to back on one.
