Well an important date is up in September so ive decided to have a badge made for the car to mark this. It will wear it proudly.
Those who remember back in the day will know i said that my car would hold/defend the Topspeed record for a period of 10years. Well its almost up & will mark the end of anything to do with RS Cosworth Topspeed records (Thank god for that i hear ).

Love me or hate me ive stuck to that task which many younger people dont do. Its unreal to think the last recorded 200mph run was on '5th gear' in November 2005 . In 14 months the car did about ten 200mph runs without problems the Shead man builds them strong so thanks Mark.

It will replace the Ford badge front & rear. Not really decided what it will say but below is an idea.

That's a fast 10 years, I can remember counting down the days until performance ford was out so that I could buy it and read about it! Massive achievement and hopefully your going to continue with the car and increase that top speed.

if you have that badge made, please put the apostrophe in world's or it will look hideous.

fantastic achievement i can remember so many people saying it was easy, they were going to build one faster, blah, blah, blah. it never happened as it is not as easy as they all thought. respect to you and mark.

that 5th gear episode was - as they say in modern parlance - epic

thats great rod, not sure on the badge idea but its your achievement

was your 206 run still the highest you had done in that ten year period?

Glad you achieved what you were hoping for, although I must say its been a pretty dull 10 years top speed wise seeing as no one has at any point attempted to beat it have they?

No!!
The highest speed reached was 210.2mph on our own data.
The 206.1mph record was a through the gate speed at Terminal Velocity 2005 event. I had got the gearing wrong & Mark bounced on the limiter 200 metres or so from the line & cruised through at 206.1mph.

Thanks for the tip on my English its a weak point but remember im a Hampshire lad it didnt matter .

Many thought it was easy because they didnt understand the maths of it.
Before Martin ran i received a few PM's telling me his car was so much faster to 100mph it would 'piss' the record. I knew it had no chance with 700bhp of beating the record or indeed reaching 200mph. 6 runs later he did & i got stick for saying it could not be done. However Martin later admitted he had fitted a GT40/94 for that last run giving perhaps another 30bhp he ran 200.2mph Maths proved correct .

I never admitted anything about the turbo and don't ever recall mentioning it, it certinally wasn't swapped out for the last run. The reason the car ended up with that particular turbot was because I'd bought a larger exhaust wheel for my Turbonetics turbo but a well known turbo company messed up balancing and the turbo failed on my rollers on the first spool up, the 4094 was the closest size they had and was given to me FOC.

Your idea of making a plaque sounds a bit daft to me but if that's what you want then go for it, I moved on years ago and have zero interest in going any faster, its a dangerous game that can cost way too much financially and will hurt you if it goes wrong.

Just get on with it, life is short... We all know that.

I was certainly told about the Turbo swap i think one of your crew may have let it slip on another Forum but its way back in time now & of zero importance.

You didnt move on or have zero interest in the 7 years 2 months that your car held the record Martin you were just fine about it then . It promoted your business well.
Of course its dangerous but its a hobby & people do stupid things. I will drive the car if it runs again which gets less likely month on month.

As for the plaque of course its daft but so is life.

Fair play to ypu for having the record for 10 years, I take my hat off to you

I know there's bitching and al sorts of "banter" on this forum but being honest the scene would be better if there were more people like you that don't give up on their dreams and aren't afraid to push boundaries which helps the whole scene evolve.

Heard from Mark yesterday & hes sending the Block away to get the liners sorted. The Piston/bore clearance is not to his liking not sure whats to be done & if hes reading im sure he will say. Other Pistons are on order so it should be sorted.
At Goole this weekend for 3 nights & taking in the Yorkraceway event. Lets hope it goes well & starts a competative event going forward.

Hi
Think i should just say what happened a week or so back.

I had been working hard in the garden for a week or so preparing for a family party & then over a weekend drove 640miles to York Raceway. On returning I continued working in the garden & also started on some prep work for Mark who required 2 Looms. Walking to my Coffee shop I had a TGA or Transient Global Ammnesia. I have 22 missing hours which wont come back. I was found in a confused state repeating the same words ' Have i had a stroke' & 'Where am i' thats all i said for about 3 hours. Taken to Hospital it was assumed i had a stroke. PF played a part in my recovery as i was shown a picture of me presenting a trophy to Wenny at York Dragway. I had no recall & insisted id never been to York. After 8 hours or so im aware of being in a Hospital bed & asking to 'Go to the toilet' It was my first recall & things started to whizz into my brain it was weird as time didnt seem right.
Within an hour 90% of my memory returned & I had just those missing hours.
I was told it would take a week to get most of my memory back. Think ive recovered except for the missing bit. As always its the Missus that its effected the most.
I can start driving tomorrow but it is a warning & i will be taking things a bit more easy.
The cause they say was a combo of Stress (doing too much) & dehydration.

I ended up in the geriatric neurology ward .

I did chuckle at the geriatric ward mind

Blimey Rod, that must have scared you. For what it is worth this happened to someone I know, he was under a lot of stress and then one day ended up at the beach 100's of miles from work or home, he doesnt know how he got there or why...he drove all the way there though! It never happened again in over 12 years.

The speeds you drive at you might just have gone "back to the future", see if you have a receipt for a flux capacitor!

Now dont forget to finish my loom....I think I may have some of what you had as I cant remeber seeing my cossied 205 in over 4 months LOL

Keep Well

Everything is either arrived or on order. All parts will be here within 2 weeks.
I do however need to get a mod to the dry sump carried out & the pistons balanced to avoid a delay in November.

I'm a little confused....
So the new build was underway but then you'd decided to call it a day and now it's back on again??
With the aim being more top speed runs?
What the car achieved was amazing but am I right in saying you was never actually the driver on the 200mph+ runs??

Cheers Paul

Don't get confused Trev its all very simple.

Called a halt to Topspeed running on doctors orders. A TGA is caused by Stress & Adrenaline & I don't want another .
The 1000bhp development engine was stopped in July so I could decide what to do as I was told to take things easy. We will continue with that in November. Its not & never was going in my car.
A lesser 800+ dry sumped engine using a EFR8190 will be used in my road car.

You are not right in saying I have not driven my car at 200+mph I got within .5mph of The masters record. I was over 60 he was under 40 .
4 of 11 fastest runs were by a senile oap .

Hope that clears that up but I will get the same old shite again im sure

No problem Rod,
Just didn't really understand what the situation was especially with a few similar threads running simultaneously.

Thanks for clearing that up and glad your doing better now.

What car is the new 1000hp engine going into then?

Its not going in any car. A technical exercise to try for 1000bhp but retain the low down Torque of my previous engine.

HP = Torque x RPM ÷ 5252. So to achieve 1000bhp @ 8k rpm you would require 657ft-lb of torque at that point. As a rough estimate it will take 54psi of boost to achieve that. So if you maintain 657ft-lb across the range by increasing boost to the required level you will have 1000bhp @ 8k.
Theres the small problem of it holding together but trick parts & exotic materials have been developed. It will require 2 Map Sensors to give accurate control as 4 bar is approached.
Nothing clever just a Technical exercise will not be easy & ive not seen another without resulting to massive cams & huge ports that would totally destroy the Torque curve.

After 40 months in storage a whole host of Cossie parts are now back in my garage. Lets hope the next 2 months see some progress on this build.

Ive had my 3 months rest from this build as advised & Mark assures me that the engine build-up will start when he returns from SEMA.
