Well after much thought ive decided to not continue with this thread. As I reach 70 the generation gap becomes a chasm & I feel very out of place on here these days.

Caddy
There is near zero interest in what I wish to do with my car on Ford sites. I except & understand that im from a generation of Cossie owners that have passed into History.
I was looking at the list of the 15 fastest ever Cossies this week only 2 still exist in that form its sad but true. I thought bug*er that whats the point just walk away.

Far better yours than some dog's dinner of a Cossie covered with chrome shit under the bonnet, massive wheels and a monster sub. Keep it up, some of the old generation are still around

Sir Malcolm Campbell probably felt lonely at the top at times.

I doubt many have the money to compete with you and the tuners who needed the flagships dont need mag front covers now as the circulation is so low, they are all on Facebook with the new set of cars.....doesn't mean nobody is interested in what you are doing, just read the number of views on this site / thread. 44,000 views and counting.

If we went to our own funerals we would see just how many people loved what we did. I am not suggesting that at 70 you should be thinking about these things but I could imagine a cavalcade of broken down Cossies outside yours lol.

You have probably just had the wind knocked out of your sails....now go and dust yourself off and come back out fighting

Cant answer for others but
I for 1 would like you to carry on with the thread as i enjoy the idea
Of watching yourself and mark pushing the boundries and seeing what can be achieved

I agree that prob most prople arent interested in watchin you trying for 1000bhp,
But i bet the proper petrol heads and enthusiasts are genuinely interested,
Seems like everybody these days are all converting back to standard cars and lowish power,
Without doubt this is the current trend in the cossy's with the values going the way they are,
The days of people trying to outdo each other tuning engines seem to be gone
So its nice to watch the 1's that are still trying

Rod,

You say you aren't going to continue with this thread but are you still going to finish building the car and going for a top speed run?

Yes the engine will continue. Going for a Topspeed run is a different thing at the mo I don't see the point but getting back the car may change that. It had been a dream to set the record myself, we will have the Power for me to do that even if I cant max the car out. However the TGA & recent eye problems mean its unlikely that will happen. Its the 70 thing I guess my friend felt much the same im getting older, slower less able & health starts to intrude. Plenty of life left I hope but I feel so out of touch with this new generation of RS guys, don't get it, to me a Cossie is about going fast if it don't its one of the worst cars you can own. Endless pages of my cars is so original its got a 1986 fly on the windscreen, shite slow & handles like a sack of poo but original . Time for me to leave me thinks .

Who cares what other people are doing, thinking or saying.
Is see this as a very exciting engineering exercise which any man card carrying bloke should be very interested in.
In that vein it deserves a thread with widespread coverage and unfortunately that means here on PF along with the nay-sayers, arm chair critics etc. There's a lot of people following this thread for the updates.
If you're not going to continue to update could you not ask someone close to the build to continue?

I think this is the most exiting and extreme project on Cosworth`s now, and it would be a shame if we or at least the people who are interest in this, miss the result. Keep on going Rod and Mark

Many people still with an interest in what your doing rod! To me the mods your car pioneers filter down to others who are interested in building a high horse power yb with an up to date twist! It's not going to be to everyone's taste as the costs involved are very high.

I always enjoy reading the new updates an appreciate the engineering involved in such a project. Would be a great shame if you stopped the updates.

this is one of the few threads I have read every word of...

I would love to have the budget to get my lowly GLX to compete with you, all out power, who cares about originality, value of the car, enjoy it!

I look forward to the updates on this thread!

Put the dummy back in Rod and keep posting, save the spitting of it out until your prams going over 220mph

In all seriousness this is one of the few threads I bother looking at. I'm sure it would be a loss to many if you were to cease updating us with your progress.

All the best.

I simply cant win my car is very high profile & in the last few weeks ive had 129 friends requests on Facebook. I have never heard of any of them but they are all Cosworth boys. Facebook is for my Family don't want other stuff on there & im cutting back friends at the mo to keep it that way. Do you guys just accept friends for the sake of it well I don't. I then read Im stuck up & don't accept friends on there .

There comes a point when enough is enough & I suppose I will get called a DRma Queen or that im spitting out my dummy. Well so be it

Facebook is a private thing to be fair set yourself so you cannot be found on there rod! As for on here it would be good if you carried on and posted from time to time as the thing comes together again. Let the haters hate lol the car speaks for it's self if they can't see that they don't know much about modded road cars
