Still no progress on the build. Can now buy the 1.4 housing for the 9180 so that will be ordered. Rang about a 2 day session on a Dyno today Ł960 inc vat seemed very reasonable. We are going to a Company that don't know the car or MAD so the knockers who have told me that my car cant have more than 700bhp whatever lies we tell may well be proved right . Think November is going to slip by without progress but December will be better im sure.

Are there that many people who don't believe your figures?? I find that hard to understand.

There can't be many engine dyno's about.

In the last couple of years its been fine. Before that a few have doubted everything achieved. Not sure how I bribed 5th Gear but I was told that's what happened. A well known Tuner told me over the Phone that our figures were bullshit. Also figures doubted by 2 other nationally known firms to my face.
That's hard when you just give the facts & let the car do the proving.

Been for a chat with Mark today. Topic is Fuel to be used. The fuel we used for 838bhp is shite compared to whats out there if you pay the money. To use these fancy fuels is OK on the Dyno so we will fit the injectors required. 8 X 1300cc or bigger required if we use the best available. Gains of over 10% obtained on tests over E85 using same ignition & boost. Im sure my fuel system wont cope with that in the car as they use 40% extra fuel.
You never know with the 1.4 housing & the best of the fuels available we may get near 1000bhp on the 9180 if we do the GTX4202 will go in the bin . I know which fuel I would use after my research .

Yes !!
But the engine is still to go in my road car & not designed to make use of Methanol. Needing road going Torque will mean this engine is a compromise from making all out Power. CR is 8.5 not 10 that Methanol would like.
I think this engine will run out of steam in the mid 900's but truth is we don't know. If it does we will not move away from it being a road engine .

Are there any laws on the use of fancy fuels like methanol on the road?

Yes. Race fuel has no duty on it so it can't be used on the road.

Its a good job it doesn't im getting prices at the mo for the Fuel that makes the most Power without adding ignition over 106 Race, lots of tests online but one appears to outperform the rest. Only 2 dealers in the UK but im on the case . How much do we need.

Sounds good rod, looking forward to seeing progress. Will u be keeping us updated with lots of pics when the build starts? Myself and I'm sure many others are very interested in the development of your engine.

When it starts in earnest I will indeed start a new thread with pictures.
Im afraid Life keeps getting in the way of this project getting started but the big off will happen in December.

Have reported my findings on E85, E98, C85 & ftw 120+Purple to mark who will make the final call. The Purple appears the fuel of choice amongst those seeking big horsepower. I see Andy uses it in his Scoob. Very little in stock in the UK but ive tracked some down. Its Ł33 a gallon so not as bad as I expected. In various test just changing the fuel & not making adjustments its making gains of 10% over the others listed. Anyone heard anything bad about this Fuel. If Mark agrees I will buy 20 gallons of the stuff for Dyno development for mine & an EVO also striving for 1000bhp.

Anyone who knows me will be aware I love calculations .
Wanted to know if my fuel system could support the use FTW 120+purple & 1000bhp in the car.

First normal fuel
1000bhp fuel has bsfc of .62 so 653Lb/hr or 6853cc/min of injectors required. This is achieved with 8x1000cc @ 86% duty.
Convert 653Lb/hr to Imp gall/hr = 91 gall/hr required.
e98 based fuel
1000bhp fuel has bsfc of .87 so 916Lb/hr or 9616cc/min of injectors required. This is achieved with 8X1300cc @ 92% duty.
Convert 916Lb/hr to Imp gall/hr = 127 gall/hr required.

Cant find the bsfc for Purple but it uses 10/15% more fuel than e98 so that means 146 gall/hr pump required.

My Automotive Eliminator Pump
supplies 125 gall/hr @ 13.5V we can run it at 16v via the Accuvolt which if gains are linear would supply 148 gall/hr. Im sure it don't work like that so my present pump would struggle to supply 1000bhp using Purple.
Injectors would also need to be bigger than 8x1300cc. This is some Fuel

Hi Rod, I know one of the suppliers, he used to do a lot of F1 fuels. I did a lot of track days with him. I can probably put you in touch....he owns the business.

Mark has my numbers.

Well the wheels grind slowly. Mark has decided on the FTW Purple or lets say im going to collect 2 cans of it. Then test it on a 800+bhp Evo to see what all the fuss is about. If its go I will order Fuel for mine.
Not sure if anything else will happen before Christmas

Another possibility has come up for the Dyno to be used. If this comes off wont be any complaint about the results .

Ftw purple seems to be pretty serious fuel rod! I'm sure that will help the old yb on her way to 1000bhp!

If mark and rod want a dyno it is there.
I believe that they would rather not for their own reasons which of course is fair enough.

Been asked a few times the outlay to go from mid 800's to an attempt on 1000bhp. Its also a rebuild so new just about everything.

Its been 41 months since we started this caper so spread over that time its within my normal Cossie budget. Ive not really missed the car so its almost like im getting a free shot at 1000bhp.

The one from Halfords is a Brown squirrel, cheap as Chips at Ł50 we have secured a rare dark red one hence Ł2k+. It eats less nuts & every little helps at this level.

They quote 800bhp as the max Power they can cope with. A YB on FTW Purple will need a lot of cooling & a big fuel Supply system. Not that many out there when you start to check.

Yeah there are so many factors involved. As said your looking at someone who tunes drag engines.
Do you have someone Rod?

Yes !!
Ive found one Dyno that has done a 1000bhp YB (Ally Block) in the past.
Mark has also now contacted someone that was involved in another near 1000bhp YB (Ally Block) fairly recently.
We don't want to mention any names at the Mo. Going to a Dyno who has no conection with MAD etc. is important to halt the knockers that surfaced after our 840 engine back in 2008. In fact the one I found had never heard of Mark or my car . We will also published the graphs unlike others, although we now know why they didn't & that's the only clue I will give.

Excellent. All good.

I may have missed it so sorry. But the all alloy block was it no good for your application ? Or was it due to the high torque you and Mark required.?

I do like the look of the ally blocks from a weight saving over the front axle. I have seen that you can go as large as 2.7l too but a build to suit all of that would be mega bucks.

I was talking to Will Jones of smith and Jones the other day about a 2.5lt alloy block and the interesting changed they made over a 200 block.
