Christmas is done so on Monday/Tuesday will see if i can pick up the parts from Mark & then get to Vibration Free before the weekend. Need to remove the Loom from the car for the Dyno so that's first thing on the agenda for 2014.

Even the best laid plans fall apart forgot that i was to visit my brother this week more of a priority than the car. Still next week will be fine .

Still not had time to get to Vibration Free cant understand how you guys have time to work .
Did do something today. We are using a new flywheel on the latest build & it turns out to be different threads to attach the clutch so i went to Apex fasteners to get suitable screws.

Tomorrow looks a likely day if the weather is not bad to run over to Marks to pick up the bits & then take to VF. At least the Merc will get a good run out but i dont like getting it wet so will see what tomorrow brings.

Been to Marks today but had to help my Son in the morning so no time to get to Vibration Free . They are at Autosport tomorrow so ive arranged to meet Steve on Friday.
Ive a lot of questions to ask about other parts that may require balancing not just the normal Crank, Rods, Pistons & Cams. Also advice on mods to the front pulley & dry sump.
The front chassis cross member was moved forwards to fit my Intercooler & with very thin fans we may have room for a balancer on the front pulley to compliment the balancer also fitted to a 'secret squirrel' location on the engine. If it improves things by 10% I will pay to have it developed.

Lets hope i get all the answers on Friday its another step along the way. This is my last fling lads so no stone being left unturned.

Finally delivered the parts to Vibration Free today .
Steve is aware what we are doing to this engine so I asked if a Balancer on the front pulley would help compliment other mods. His view was the existing mods would probably cure the vibration probs but there were other benefits if the front balancer was done correctly. Could buy one from the States & mod it or design one from scratch to be correct for this application. Its more expensive but i gave the go ahead to design what we require. It will take around 8 weeks so a delay but will be worth the wait.
Forgot to ask his views on other parts but ive time to spare now.

Just thought of the fact I now require a 4 bar boost gauge can get a 52mm one but its too small any ideas. With the 9180 at the boost levels we will be using i need to keep an eye on Turbo speed so im looking at that. Found one reading up to 200k rpm & an interface to get readings from the EFR sensor.
Before you ask im out of suitable analog inputs on the SM4 so unless i lose an existing function im stuck with other means of keeping a check on Turbo Speed.
Think Mark would like me to change ECU's at this point but its a lot of aggro to gain one more input. I could probably lose Launch Control.

Will you be posting photos of the engine build? I'd be interested to see the mods you are doing?

I would think so at the mo its just a lot of bits. One of the mods will not be shown at this stage. The company agrees we will not make it public until its proved to work. That means holding together at circa 1000bhp & completing a Topspeed run using massive Power. It works in Aero engines is all I will say at the mo.

Is mapping around the ECU boost limit going to always be a factor in the back of yours/Marks mind. After all this is the final time and your surely going to always think 'what if' if the current setup ECU doesnt provide the goods on the day. I know its a case of where do you stop but new engine, new goals deserves that new ECU .
Is it really that much aggro to change it? Sounds quite a radical change none the less going by your standards.

We can use a external map sensor and there is a chance we will use it,
I have tried to push Rod to my new Ecu but he is spending enough as it is.

I have spent the last few hours drawing up a Circuit Diagram for this new ECU.
Im not even sure Mark is prepared to name the company that makes it yet perhaps Mark can answer that.
It certainly takes all the problems away it has 44 inputs/outputs the SM4 unit had 14.
I going to write a book ' The stupid amount of money it cost to go from 840bhp to 1000bhp' Mark was shocked he was out by about 50%.

If i go for it i have an sm4 for sale thats good for 99.99% of all applications

The gt4202 will be used on the Dyno only, a EFR 9180 being fitted in the car.
Hence its a 'Dyno Queen' engine the gt4202 cant be compared to a EFR for response for a road engine but it will crank out the Power. Targets are 1000bhp for the 42 & 900bhp for the EFR which is more than enough to set an impressive Topspeed around 212mph. If we want more we have a 200 shot of Nitous to call on.

Have you decided to go for it Rod?
Changing ECU for 'one run' is crazy for most but not in this case IMO.
Oh I also keep thinking about the bonnet tips you bent at 200mph.
Any pics?

Have I decided well its more likely I will than i wont .

Done a bit of prep work diagrams for Emtron Loom & its interface to existing car Loom & my pin allocation for functions. Autronic & Vipec im well into but never seen this ECU before so I think this is OK.

This Ecu is more modern and has closed loop knock and lambda and can scratch Rods arse if needed also.

Agree ive now read the Spec 100% instead of 90% .

Ive moved WTS & ATS to ANV 7&8 & TPS to ANV 1 only concern is Dry Sump sensor it needs to switch engine off will it go to ANV2 or 9.

Hello Rod, do you have access to your plenum? Could you measure the width and length of the slot between the lower and upper plenum?
Something like 30mm x 300mm ... ?
