That does not look like original.
I can't say for sure, but it looks like that new production "RS500" block what Burton is selling.

I´m not 100% because I cant read the number, but it looks like it..
What is the cast number on the side?
RS500 road cars had H88HM6015BA
The RS500 replacement engines had 85HM6015BB

The regular 2wd block has bigger core plugs like this:

And the RS500 block looks like this:

Some tuners fitted screws and washers overlapping the core plugs to stop

them popping out incase of block flex with highly tuned engines.

It can be a race mod. I know that it has been done some research with a external coolant system with a extra el water pump that has circulated coolant trough the core plug holes for more stabile water temp.. so that is the only reason I can think off..

But I´m far from being an expert!

that was on ebay a few weeks ago, only issue I could see was the extra 3 holes in the block near the top on 2nd picture, not sure how they would be blocked off, also unsure why they are there. didn't get a single bid when listed.

It should also have 'YBD' and a number engraved into the block above the water pump, I think.

Not at all sure as the pic is too small. As Tommen's pic shows - the core plugs are key.

Here's one of mine to compare with as well.

It wont have a YBD number as its not an original engine from an RS500 road car, its a replacement 500 block typically used by the race cars and these were not numbered, they were though given the designation YBF but this wont be stamped on it. These RS500 spec bare blocks had an extra web for the alternator mounting bracket and a few other tweeks. Looks as if its been coopers rung as well. probably a spare for a race car as it looks to have been prepped ready but does not appear to have been used.

It also looks as if slightly larger core plug holes have been machined into it as well as having the securing holes added.

Take a look in the water pump hole at the liner of bore number 1 it should taper, being thicker at the base and then thinning out as you go up.
