Using a Type 9 on a Cosworth
Hi guys
Looking for some straight cut gearbox for my 2WD cosworth one seller offers to me a Type 9 gearbox with straight cut kit saying that supports my horsepower and torque. Questions:
- He says that I'm needed a Sierra XR4 bellhousing and no more. Is ok?
I think that std cosworth flywheel and clutch don't fit with that gearbox but not sure. And what about the starter motor?
Regards

unless it v6 cossie engine xr4 bellhousing is wrong. dont think a type 9 would really be up to the job of the torque of a cosworth engine

I would go for the T5, the T9 is a good gearbox but not as strong AFIK

Type 9 would be useless at that power.
Quaife used to do a straight cut kit available from CTS. What's wrong with going Glebe?

Correct lol, hence why Ford did not do so.
Lol at trying to compare a T9 to a T5, the latter is one of the strongest gearboxes fitted to a production Ford.

I broke 2 T9's in a bog standard XR4i. Good job they were cheap to replace.
