Exactly what he ^^ says, this is the first thing to do.
If it's a Cosworth then it's likely the fuse has melted in the fusebox (Caused by Ford fitting a switch that isn't suitable), but irrelevant of this the fans should be rewired anyway, if you do a search on here you will see all the threads about it.

My 91 4x4 saph done same after stint in garage (10 year)
Changed switch .. But also changed to a new loom for fans as said above original are not too good and have been known to catch fire .. Never had a prob since

Classic problem, as I say above, it is common for it to melt as well!
Rewire the fans BEFORE it damages the fuse box etc, the standard setup/wiring is shocking, the fuel pump also suffers from old wiring and cause cause a meltdown, these are two chronic weak points and both need rewiring!
