stage 1 chip
Hello
Currently my saph is bog standard apart from full 3"exhaust & k&n filter but looking to chip it to stage1. Is it ok to just fit the chip or will the amal vlave need re-jetting? Looked at a few chips on e-bay & they say to inrease boost to 15psi recommended but it indicates this is not done by the chip? Sorry for my lack of knowledge but was told today that just fit the chip & it will be fine but find that hard to beleive?
Any help appreciated
Leon

Yes the boost limit is removed from the software (Chip) it is DIY, however you want to get the AFR and make sure there is no det etc after.
Also although the increase is nothing to these engines, it is worth giving some consideration to the engines health beforehand, the standard HG for example is a weak point!
I would be VERY wary of buying a chip from Ebay, unless it's a reputable tuner's chip from themselves.
There are two reasons for this, there are a lot of bad chips about and also you may well have someone selling a reputable calibration BUT they don't really know what it's for, it's one thing them saying it's what it is for and another thing actually being correct!
The Amal valve does not need touching.

yer get a chip from a dealer on here. They know there stuff and stage one chip is cheap. I've heard some dodgy stories about ebay chips.
As martin says once fitted do a cheap power run and get them to measure afr to make sure its all safe although head gasket will be fine for stage 1 but worth upgrading anyway
