Default Radiator water temp

To my Sapphire cossie in for a MOT today (sailed straight through!!) and on the way home i noticed the temp was reading quite high, just above the N on normal. Is this ok?

I kept an eye on it and it just touched the bottom of the red before the fans kicked in. but didnt really drop the needle down far. Ive already fitted a low temp fan switch to it just to help it out alittle.

Just would like to find out what everone elses read before i do some damage..!!
