Ridiculous thing...is there an easy way to put them back in place?

I refitted one yesterday without much trouble. Make sure the handbrake operating arm is fully back in the off position and then hook the end of the spring into the operating arm. Put a 10 mm socket on the bolt, push the spring across until the bolt lines up with the hole and then screw the bolt into the calliper.

Make sure it lines up had a bolt snapping on my saphire ( had luckily a a left hand going drill and it came out ! )

These arnt that hars to get back on.It just takes a bit of fiddling.
