Default Cam Cover Seals

I've just taken my cam cover off and there's one gasket that runs the outline, and up the middle, of the two joining surfaces.

However, it doesn't seal the two hemipspherical bumps over the pulley end of the cams. There IS a seperate rubber gasket for this area, isn't there? Or do you just fill that area with a silicon sealant?

I just noticed I also have oil sitting in the wells around where the spark plugs sit...there shouldn't be any oil there at all, should there?

As above pal you should have 2 half moon seals there, don't silicone seal it most rocker gasket sets will include these but you can buy without so double check & there should be no oil or anything else in with the spark plugs apart from the leads on top lol

Thanks, everyone.

I will get onto finding those seals I need then. There was just a huge slug of red silicon where they were meant to be.

...and I don't know how the oil got into the spark plug wells! It looks like there is a slow leak on the inner side of the gasket though.

I've just had a quick look and can't find any of those half-moon rubber seals.

Can somebody link to a place that sells them?

Thanks.

be carefull fitting the paper part of the gasket as they can pull away from the bolt holes during fitting causing the oil on plug leads like you have, i personally have a metal gasket for my rocker cover that is coated with a rubber type coating (actually all my gaskets are like this) as they are reuseable and dont move when fitting
were the half moon seals meet the rest of the gasket you should also put a blob of silicone sealer just to help them seal prior to fitting
