Default 3 dr 2wd Cossie, what clutch?

I'm looking at replacing the clutch as its an unknown factor.
The car hasn't been used for 18 years so I reckon it could be the original.
I intend to use the car on Hillclimbs, Autokhanas etc as well as a weekend drive.
Can any of you experts out there tell me what type of clutch to fit given the circumstances I intend to use the car in ?
Im pretty ignorant on clutches, the car is standard apart from a bigger turbo, the model of which I'm still trying to identify ( it was from Bonds racing RS500 here in Australia and was never fitted after the rebuild)
Thanks guys
Keith

sounds like a lovely car mate - get some pics up and 18 years

I would go for an Alcon 6 plate paddle clutch or even a hydraulic clutch conversion. the pedal feel on the alcon is nice and light unlike the AP equivalent

i agree with r4n ss 100% ive used both and the alcon 6 paddle does feal better, both only lasted sub 3000 miles with loads of launches and track time with 400 plus bhp

I have Alcon paddle on mine and other than a bit awkward in traffic till you get used to it then it's fine. Not sure on life though as only done about 3k miles on it so far, if turbo off a rs500 then should be a t4, will need other supporting mods for this though

Still investigating the turbo but i will be asking more questions about it for sure. I've tried to order a alcon 6 plate last night but the guys I spoke to in the UK have said they will get back to me with a shipping quote.
More to follow.
Thanks again for the advice.
Cheers
Keith

AP cover and organic centre plate on anything below 450 brake, paddle clutch is a horrible drive on anything other than a track or airfield.

I don't find the Alcon paddle much trouble, never tried an ap in a sierra but did have one in a mini a few years ago and that was like an on/off switch rather than a clutch

Alcon & AP covers much of a muchness. It's the centre plate that causes the judder on take up. My AP cover with organic plate was sweet, no judder in traffic, just like driving my derv Focus.
