cossie running problems

Default cossie running problems

my 3 door cossie drives no problem on open road but if car is in slow traffic or left to idle for a while and gets warm enough for fans to cut in car will splutter and run bad and wont pull right .car is not boiling or anything .ive changed air temp sensor water temp sensor and crank sensor still no joy .any help would be apreciated its wrecking my head

I admit this is a guess on my behalf, but have you checked the voltage readings from when it runs normally to when it runs badly ie with fans on? Could be it's drawing too much power and struggling to feed the other systems ie ECU.

no because when fans cut out it still is same .if car is left cool down for 20 mins its grand again

My apologies. I read it as that it ran bad while fans were on. Good luck finding the issue pal.

Perhaps some sort of fuel vaporization? Or ignition coil etc breaking down under heat?

My saff used to di a similar thing.I changed the water temp sensor.


When i first started my car up it would run mint but as soon as it got up to temp it used to misfire like fook.

His already changed CTS, although it may be worth him checking it connected ok and that the correct one was fitted.

Default cosworth running bad

alright heres the problem when i start cossie it runs fine and will all day unless you run into traffic or let tick over for a while say until temp reaches fan cut in temp then it starts to splutter stall and backfire and eventually cut out.ive changed water temp sensor/air temp sensor/coil/dist cap/rotor/phase sensor /crank sensor/leads/ignition amp/im at my wits end really pissing me off its going on a year now.any help would be appreciated

Fan perhaps?

Although it may sound strange, the fans wiring etc is a bad design as standard, and so I am wondering whether it's something electrical causing the problem?

This is assuming you have not rewired them?

Also is it setup correctly?
