Question Another Wasted Spark Question, Back fire

When turning the ignition on (not cranking over) or when the engine has literally stopped there is either one or 2 back fires. Thought something had a monumental blowout under the bonnet lol.
Is it the Wasted Sparks driver seeing the CPS and sending the relevant signal to send a spark to the relevant spark plugs???

Been told someone did something to their wasted spark to stop thisfrom happening.

Any ideas anyone????

Yep they do it, mine shot a flame the other day as i was turning the ignition on an off for reasons then when i clicked the turn it over it backfires - you will find they do it quite often especially every time you prime but don't start then repeat - it's fine

Don't know how to prevent it as i just assumed it's just mechanical, you put fuel in then due to the increased spark you get the pop

Not quite so much fun when it fires into your inlet.

Was talking to Karl about this and said it can cause issues if you have Nitrous and there are traces of it in your inlet system.

I'd have thought there must be a reason for it to do it, or else why would it?

Its been enough to slightly turn my engine too. Not great when your hands in the engine bay and you ask a mate to switch the ignition on.

I've spoken to a couple of tuners about this.
The pectel anti lag/coil pack board does not seem to do this.No pops or bangs on second stage ignition.
I believe its a bug in the wiring/design for the wasted spark driver which has not been ironed out. who ever designed this will be able to clear this up....As above though really will not blow your car up, just not ideal.

So if you have not got ALS an LC this is more likely to happen? Cause the a for mentioned guy I know did IIRC have ALS and LC. You are right though it won't blow up just shit you up on occasion lol

I think the ALS AND LC would be irrelivant to this. Its a wasted spark driver issue

I have started mine since fitting the kit numerous times hot and cold, not done it yet but at least I will know what it is when it does happen.

Theres a guy with wasted spark in a rs 200. He's blown up two inlet manifolds due to back/miss fires. Read the link above.

I will be sticking to pectel and collins boards for running coil pack and anti lag. I don't think those wasted spark drivers healthy. But if you guys like mis fires....

Hi to everyone,

for those with the backfire issue after the upgrade to wasted spark (I don't tested this myself but it's worth trying).
If you have a backfire by turning the ignition on you have to install the supply voltage (coil) not by the ignition lock but rather on the fuel pump relay (terminal 87). Hope this will solve it. Has someone done it with success?
